Cornish Scene Cake
One of the trickiest skills to master, the painted chocolate collar wrap. To achieve the glossy chocolate outer, unlike painting a picture directly onto the cake front, the design is painted onto acetate (back to front, in reverse fashion) then chocolate is poured over this and left to set around the cake. The acetate is then peeled off to reveal the front of the painting. Not the quickest of cakes to make, I hasten to add!
This cake was to celebrate the dad’s milestone birthday. They often stayed in Cornwall and wanted something fun and that reflected their favourite places of Porthleven and Marazion.
Entirely handpainted, a lovely colourful Porthleven harbour fades into an illustration of St Michael’s Mount.
Finished with a scattering of edible flowers, handmade little chocolate seashells and an edible birthday message scroll.
Delivered to Penventon Hotel, Redruth
